Visa Requirements
Citizens of the Republic of Belarus wishing to visit the United Republic of Tanzania can obtain a visa upon arrival at the airport.
The cost of a visa on arrival is $50 (payment by bank card only). The visa fee applies to children of any age, regardless of whether they are included in their parents' passports or have their own.
The permitted length of stay in Tanzania on a single-entry visa is 90 days.
Entry Rules
From October 1, 2024, tourists coming to vacation in Zanzibar are required to obtain local medical insurance from the state-owned company Zanzibar Insurance Corporation. It covers emergency medical expenses, accidents, baggage delay, theft, and other risks.- The insurance cost is $44.- The validity period is 92 days.

When filling it out, you specify an email to which the form is then sent; it must be printed and taken with you on the trip. It can be arranged from 01.09.2024. Payment is online only, by debit or credit card. Attention! Having travel insurance does not exempt you from the requirement to obtain the Zanzibar Insurance Corporation insurance policy. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in denial of entry.
Required Documents for Entry
- Passport (valid for at least 6 months from the tour start date);
- Visa application form for visa on arrival
- Completed English-language immigration card
- Online traveler form for Zanzibar, completed within 24 hours before arrival in Tanzania via Zanzibar.
- Return ticket, or ticket to a third country;
- Hotel booking confirmation (tourist voucher);
- Proof of sufficient funds at the rate of $4 per person per day;
- Medical insurance policy.
After passing through passport control, you will keep the stub of the immigration card (must be kept until the return flight!).
Customs Regulations
Duty-free import:
- 250 grams of tobacco or 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars; 1 liter of alcoholic beverages; up to 250 ml. of perfume or eau de toilette; personal belongings and food within personal needs
Prohibited for export:
- Ivory and items made from it, rhinoceros horns; skins of wild animals; gold; diamonds; cloves without documents confirming the legality of their purchase.
All plants and animals are imported only on the basis of a phytosanitary certificate or animal health certificate; a rabies vaccination is mandatory. All animals upon arrival are subject to inspection and sent to quarantine.
A customs duty is paid for the import of professional filming equipment, radio and recording equipment, and musical instruments.
Import and export of national currency is prohibited.
Import and export of foreign currency is not limited (declaration must be filled out).
Please note:
Guests of Zanzibar Island pay a mandatory tourist tax upon accommodation. Hotel guests pay for each day of their stay depending on the type and star rating of the hotel. The tax amount is paid in US dollars upon check-in and ranges from $2 to $5. ($5 USD per person per night for guests staying in 5- and 4-star hotels).
Tourists are allowed to be on the streets of the country's cities and towns (except for the beach and hotel grounds) only in closed clothing (covering shoulders, stomach, and knees).Zanzibar is an island of the internet.
There are several internet cafes in the capital.
Every hotel has internet access. Hotels offer connection packages or free internet.
Public displays of affection, such as kissing, should be avoided as they are not in line with the ethical norms of the conservative part of the Muslim community in Zanzibar.
Tips are best given in the local currency. In restaurants, they typically amount to 10% of the order value. Most hotels automatically include a 10% service charge on the bill.
