Visa Requirements
Citizens of the Republic of Belarus require a Schengen visa, a Greek national visa, or a visa from another country within the Schengen Area.
Required Documents for Entry
- Passport (valid for at least 6 months from the tour start date)
- Return ticket, or ticket to a third country;
- Hotel booking confirmation (tourist voucher);
- Medical insurance policy
When passing through passport control, Greek border officials may request proof of sufficient funds in cash, calculated at 50 euros per day of stay in Greece.
Customs Regulations
In accordance with Greek customs regulations, the following items are allowed for duty-free import:
- All personal belongings (clothing, tourist equipment, etc.)
- 1 liter of spirits, 4 liters of wine, or 16 liters of beer; 200 cigarettes, 100 cigarillos, 50 cigars, or 250g of loose tobacco; Digital equipment (smartphone, laptop, tablet, camera, video camera) no more than 1 item per tourist
- Bicycle or windsurfing board, provided they are exported upon departure
- Baby food in sealed packaging, calculated at 2 kg per tourist
For entry into Greece from countries outside the European Union, you may bring in cash up to 10,000 euros without the need for declaration. If the amount exceeds 10,000 euros (or the equivalent in another currency), you must declare it upon entry. This is mandatory if you plan to combine vacation and shopping. Upon departure, customs officials may request proof of the legal origin of the funds if not all money is spent.
Good to Know:
From January 1, 2024, a new tax – the Climate Crisis Resilience Fee – comes into effect in Greek hotels.
This tax replaces the previous tourist tax and aims to financially support Greece's emergency fund for dealing with natural disasters.
Below is the amount of the environmental fee (Climate Crisis Resilience Fee) that guests will be required to pay upon hotel check-in.
May - October per room per night:
1-2 star – 1.50 €
3 star – 3.00 €
4 star – 7.00 €
5 star – 10.00 €
November - February per room per night:
1-2 star – 0.50 €
3 star – 1.50 €
4 star – 3.00 €
5 star – 4.00 €
When greeting a local with a handshake, do not show the palm of your hand. For Greeks, this is a sign of ill will towards the other person. An elderly person here might well take it as an insult.
Greece supports Tax Free refunds for citizens of countries who have made purchases and are not citizens of the European Union. The VAT refund can be up to 24% of the purchase amount, and the minimum purchase value in a single store must be at least 42€.
