Visa Requirements
Citizens of the Republic of Belarus are granted visa-free entry to Montenegro for up to 30 days, provided they have a tourist voucher (individual or group) or an invitation.
Required Documents for Entry
- Passport (valid for at least 3 months from the end date of the tour);
- Return ticket, or ticket to a third country;
- Hotel booking confirmation (tourist voucher);
- Medical insurance policy
Upon arrival, foreigners with or without a visa are required to register at the tourist information point at their place of stay within 24 hours and deregister before departure. If they are using the services of an accommodation provider (hotel, private apartment, etc.), the obligation to submit a registration of stay for the foreign citizen falls on the accommodation provider.
Customs Regulations
The following items are duty-free:
- Items intended for personal use during the trip
- Tobacco/cigarettes: 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars, or 100 cigarillos, or 250g of tobacco
- Alcohol: 2 liters of wine or 1 liter of spirits
- Perfume: 1 bottle of perfume up to 50 grams or 1 bottle of eau de cologne up to 0.25 liters
Prohibited for import:
- Animals, pets, products of animal origin, plants, parts of plants and products of plant origin, except for animals and plants with the appropriate certificate (health certificate, as well as permission from the relevant veterinary-sanitary services).
Individuals may import an unlimited amount of money into the country. However, if the amount exceeds 2,000 euros (or equivalent in another currency), the money must be declared. The free export of currency from the country is limited to the same amount.
Good to know:
Hotels and restaurants include a service charge in the bill. However, it is still customary to leave a tip of around 10% of the service cost or simply round up the bill.
Many residents of Montenegro speak Russian well.
The country participates in the Tax Free Shopping system: tourists who make purchases in Montenegrin stores can get a VAT refund. Unlike in other European countries where the refund is processed directly at the airport, the procedure here is different. When paying for your purchase, you will receive a PDV-PP form in 2 copies along with the receipt. A copy of the first page of your passport must be attached to each copy, and the entire set must be presented upon departure. When filling out the PDV-PP form in the store, you will be asked for your passport. Have it ready in your bag when you go shopping. The customs officer will verify that the goods you purchased are for personal use, register them in the log, and place the appropriate stamp on the PDV-PP copy. Important note: the purchases must 'arrive' at customs in their original, intact packaging.
Discussions about the breakup of Yugoslavia and subsequent conflicts on this basis are considered bad form here. The people of Montenegro are friendly and very patient; no one will start a fight, but it's better not to bring up this topic.
