Visa requirements

Citizens of Belarus need a visa obtained in advance to enter the Dominican Republic. There is no Dominican consulate in Belarus — visa documents are usually submitted to the Consulate of the Dominican Republic in Moscow.

You can enter without a Dominican visa if you hold a valid visa or residence permit of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom or a Schengen country. The tourist card is included in the air ticket price, so you do not need to buy it at the airport.

All travellers must complete the free electronic E-Ticket form at eticket.migracion.gob.do — for both entry and departure. The form can be filled in as soon as you have your flight details, but before check-in. One form covers a family of up to 7 people. If your details change, the form must be completed again.

Documents required for entry

• Passport valid for at least 6 months;
• Dominican visa or a valid visa (residence permit) of the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom or a Schengen country;
• E-Ticket QR code;
• Return ticket or onward ticket to a third country;
• Hotel booking confirmation (tour voucher);
• Medical insurance.

Customs regulations

Cash exceeding 10,000 USD (or the equivalent in pesos or another currency) must be declared on entry and departure.

The customs declaration must list:

• gifts;
• goods received as donations or inheritance;
• goods purchased for the home;
• goods for sale or business use;
• goods purchased on board the aircraft and in duty-free shops.

Gifts worth up to 500 USD may be brought in duty-free no more than once every 3 months.

Adults may bring duty-free for personal use: 5 litres of alcoholic beverages; 20 packs of cigarettes, or 25 cigars, or 200 g of tobacco; medicines in the quantity needed for the trip.

It is better not to bring food: it may be confiscated during inspection. Jewellery, antiques, historical and artistic valuables may not be taken out without a permit.

Good to know:

In hotels tips are partly included in the service charge, but housekeepers and porters are still usually tipped. In restaurants it is customary to leave the waiter about 10% of the bill.

Bargaining is customary at markets and in small shops.

Keep valuables in the hotel safe.

Many hotels have a dress code in their restaurants.
