Lovers of warm sun and delicious cuisine are increasingly choosing Georgia for a seaside vacation, as here you can combine relaxing beach leisure with vibrant gastronomic experiences and exciting excursions.

The season on the coast lasts from June to September, when temperatures range between +25 — +30 °C, and the sea water warms up to a comfortable +24 — +26 °C. The best time for a seaside vacation in Georgia is July and August for those who love heat and entertainment, while late May and September are for those who want less hustle and more pleasant accommodation prices.

In this article, we offer you a complete overview: which best seaside resorts in Georgia to choose, what to do there, where to stay, and what to pay attention to if you are planning a beach holiday for the first time. Tours to Georgia

Batumi

When it comes to Batumi, the first thing that comes to mind is a major city with skyscrapers, upscale hotels, and bustling streets. Batumi is the capital of Adjara, where it is especially crowded and lively in the summer. The beaches here are mostly pebbly, but the coastline stretches far enough, so there is room for everyone. The resort is perfect for those who want to get the most out of urban infrastructure: restaurants, bars, shopping malls, amusement parks — everything is at hand.

The city's main 'calling card' is the famous Batumi Boulevard, stretching along the coast. It's pleasant to stroll along the promenade, admire the modern sculptures, and take a look at the sights of Batumi: Piazza Square with its Italian flair, the Argo Cable Car with panoramic views of the city and mountains, and the Singing Fountain on Lake Ardagan. Party lovers will appreciate the nightclubs, while gambling enthusiasts will enjoy the local casinos. As for accommodation, prices in Batumi range from budget guesthouses to expensive apartments and hotels with rooftop pools.

Kobuleti

If Batumi is about urbanity and entertainment, then a vacation in Kobuleti is suitable for those who want to escape the overly noisy atmosphere of a big city. The beach here is also pebbly, but it feels wider and more extensive, with fewer vacationers (though there are still plenty of tourists in the high season). The resort is well suited for families with children and those who appreciate quiet walks by the water.

Kobuleti is famous for its mild subtropical climate, and it also grows many exotic plants, including tangerine and eucalyptus groves. Many tourists choose accommodation in the private sector: it's inexpensive, and the hosts are usually willing to cook homemade meals or help with transfers. Near Kobuleti, there are picturesque waterfalls and mountain gorges that you can visit on an excursion.

Gonio and Kvariati

These two villages are located just 15–20 minutes' drive south of Batumi. Gonio and Kvariati are often combined into one resort area, as they are close to each other. The atmosphere here is calmer than in the city itself, and the beaches are considered some of the cleanest in the Adjara region.

Kvariati is particularly loved by diving and snorkeling enthusiasts. Thanks to the clear water and nearby underwater terrain, you can see a rich underwater world here. In Gonio, besides the beach, there is an important historical landmark — the ancient Gonio-Apsaros Fortress. Accommodation in these villages is mainly represented by small hotels, guest houses, and mini-resorts, where prices are somewhat lower than in Batumi.

Sarpi

Heading further south, you will reach Sarpi — the last settlement on the border with Turkey. Once a quiet place with few tourists, in recent years the resort has been favored by travelers who value a combination of clean sea and beautiful mountain scenery. The shore here is pebbly, with rocky areas in places, and the water is often crystal clear.

The main feature of Sarpi is its proximity to the Turkish border. If you have a visa (or visa-free entry, depending on your citizenship), you can literally cross the border checkpoint in five minutes and spend a day in Turkey. In Sarpi itself, the infrastructure is not very developed: a few cafes, small shops, and guest houses. However, the atmosphere is very colorful, and the views of the coastal cliffs are truly impressive.

Ureki

Moving into the Guria region, the first place that comes to mind is Ureki. This is one of the few places in Georgia where the beach is not pebbly, but sandy. Moreover, the sand here is not ordinary: the magnetic sands of Ureki are famous for their healing properties, especially for musculoskeletal disorders. This is precisely why many vacationers with families and children come here.

The beach in Ureki is dark, and on a sunny day it heats up noticeably, so it's better to bring towels or sun loungers. The sea is usually shallow with a gentle slope, which is very convenient for young children. Accommodation options are varied: you can rent a house a few minutes' walk from the beach or book a room in a small hotel. Average prices are generally slightly lower than in the popular Batumi.

Shekvetili

Near Ureki is another young resort — Shekvetili. There aren't many tourists here yet, but the infrastructure is developing rapidly. The beach is also sandy, similar in composition to Ureki's sand, but slightly lighter. The sea is calm, and there is a lot of greenery and coniferous trees around, creating a special microclimate.

The main 'feature' of Shekvetili is the modern concert venue Black Sea Arena, where international stars occasionally perform. During the summer season, you can attend festivals and music shows here. Vacationers appreciate Shekvetili for its secluded atmosphere and the opportunity to be 'in the center of events' when major events are held at the Black Sea Arena.

Anaklia

Moving into the Samegrelo region. Anaklia is all about youth electronic music festivals, a wide promenade along the coast, and modern architectural solutions. Anaklia is one of the newest resorts on Georgia's map, created in part to attract foreign guests to major music events.

The beach in Anaklia is sandy-pebbly, and the infrastructure includes bike paths, guest houses, new hotels, and restaurants. The resort is perfect for those who love sports activities and partying until dawn. Anaklia usually has fewer tourists than Batumi, but it's precisely where large groups of young people come during festivals and open-air parties.
