Visa requirements

Belarusian citizens do not need a visa for a tourist trip to Abkhazia. Entry is through Russia, at the Psou border crossing 10 km from Adler: you can cross the border on foot or by car.

Required documents for entry

• Passport of a citizen of the Republic of Belarus. An ID card is not suitable for leaving Belarus and entering;
• Documents for travel through Russia — the same as for a trip to Russia;
• Confirmation of accommodation booking (tourist voucher).

Tourists must take out compulsory accident insurance with Abkhazgosstrakh. The fee depends on the duration: up to 3 days — 30 ₽, up to 30 days — 250 ₽, up to 183 days — 750 ₽. It is paid at the place of stay. Children under 6 are included in the parent's policy.

Medical care in Abkhazia is paid — we recommend taking out medical insurance.

Travelling with children:

Children under 18 must have their own passport for travelling abroad, and:

– With one parent: a birth certificate is required. The consent of the other parent is not required, unless an official travel ban has previously been imposed by a court.

– Without parents (in a group / with an escort): notarised consent of both parents is required. 

Customs rules

When leaving Russia for Abkhazia, cash amounting to more than 10,000 USD equivalent must be declared at Russian customs. The allowance is calculated per person, including children.

To enter by car, local car insurance is required; it is arranged at the border.

Good to know:

Bank cards are not accepted everywhere — bring cash in Russian rubles.
