Visa requirements

Citizens of Belarus need a Schengen visa to enter Greece: a Greek national visa or a visa issued by another Schengen country.

The Entry/Exit System (EES) operates at the external borders of the Schengen Area: passports are no longer stamped, and fingerprints and a facial image are taken on first entry.

Documents required for entry

• Passport valid for at least 3 months after leaving the Schengen Area and issued within the last 10 years;
• Schengen visa;
• Return ticket or onward ticket to a third country;
• Hotel booking confirmation (tour voucher);
• Medical insurance for the entire trip.

Customs regulations

Persons over 17 may bring duty-free:

• personal belongings (clothing, travel gear, etc.);
• 1 litre of beverages over 22% or 2 litres up to 22%, 4 litres of wine and 16 litres of beer;
• 200 cigarettes, or 100 cigarillos, or 50 cigars, or 250 g of tobacco;
• a bicycle or windsurf board, provided it is taken out again.

When entering Greece from outside the European Union, cash of 10,000 € or more (or the equivalent in another currency) must be declared.

Good to know:

Hotels in Greece charge a Climate Crisis Resilience Fee. It is paid on site at check-in or check-out, per room per night:

• 1–2* hotels, furnished rooms — 2 € from April to October, 0.5 € from November to March;
• 3* hotels — 5 € and 1.5 €;
• 4* hotels — 10 € and 3 €;
• 5* hotels and villas — 15 € and 4 €;
• short-term rentals — 8 € and 2 € (over 80 m² — 15 € and 4 €).

In Greece, showing an open palm towards someone is considered an insult.

Greece offers VAT refunds (tax free) to shoppers who are not EU residents. VAT in Greece is 24%; a refund can be claimed for purchases of 50 € or more in one shop.
